I stumbled across this review about a US-made tuning box for the Indigo Dicor

Check out the review!

i have mentioned about fitting a ‘Digital Tuning Box’ for Indica Dicor. Since i had received msg & calls from members asking about fitting the Box and performance results after fitting it to my car. I thank all of them for their involvement and passion about cars..
This review is totally about the performance issue of Dicor after fitting the’Dragon Perormance Tuning’ box which I bought it from USA. So for other comments / reviews
About Indica Dicor kindly refer my other review in mouthshut given in the link above.
As an answer to many of the mouthshut member’s questions I decided to conduct a detailed performance test of Dicor after fitting the box. As we are well aware of the ‘Tuning Boxes’ available in the market for Skoda TDi, Verna Crdi, Accent Crdi, Fiesta Tdci, Swift DDis etc., with power ratings. For Dicor the power increase should be atleast 85bhp after installing the tuning kit. The torque should also substantially increase from 140Nm to at least 160 Nm. I couldn take a dyno test in Chennai though.
Hence I decide to measure the performance increase ( by means of power and torque) the same way that the ‘Road Test’ conductors of my ‘Very favorite’ car magazine AutoCar India (ACI) guys do. For comparison sake I have taken the road test results of Indica Vista Quadrajet (ACI September 2008,120 bhp), Verna Crdi ( ACI Nov 2006,110 bhp).

I hav e updated the below figures after having tuning the Digital Tuning Box.The box is now set for optimum power setting.

3rd gear roll-on from 30-70 Kmph show torque of the engine in low rpm range , say, 1400-3000 rpm approximately. But from 50-80 Kmph roll on figures show the power of the Dicor in the range of 2500-4000 rpm approximately.
From the figures below its quite obvious that my dicor with tuning box is much faster than much spoken Vista Quadrajet
Even though Vista boasts of higher torque at lower rpm, its the dicor when its true potential of 1400CC Twin cam engine is released with a Tuning Box, wins the performance test. I am waiting for Vistas on the road to show them who’s the boss and make them eat my dust..
Performance figures are given in Seconds…

Gearing Dicor Verna Vista
(Stock) with Crdi Quadrajet
Tuning Box
3rd Gear
30-70Kmph 5.9 6.1 6.5
50-80Kmph 4.7 4.5 4.9
20-80 Kmph 10.2 12.8 11.8
4th Gear
40-80 Kmph 9.8 12.09 9.56
80-100 4.5 4.3 5.40
100-120 6.1 5.4 8.99
40-100 14.7 16.35 14.87
5th gear
50-90 Kmph 14.4 ----- 13.48
70-90 7.0 8.6 5.5
80-100 7.0 6.1 5.9
40 -100 23.7

We find that Dicor is as fast as Verna with Tuning box in 5 th gear slots. Its due to shorter gearing wide spread of torque. Same with MHawk also, short gearing, provides a good roll-on acceleration for it.
. The best part of this is the performance did not get down even by half a second with AC on..
After 100kmph, there is again a sudden forward lunge pushing the car further till 130 Kmph. Overtaking in highways leaves a permanant smile on my face.
Forget about the number figures,In the real world , fit the tuning box, shift to 5th gear over 60Kmph , just floor the right foot and one can experience the “TORQUE ADDICTION”
